Server Room Fire Protection Systems
How will your server infrastructure fare in the event of a fire? FireXonline offers a variety of solutions to help minimize damage and costly downtime. Whether you have only a couple servers or an entire room full, FireXonline can help you find the optimum solution to protect these valuable assets.
Rack-Mount fire protection systems
FireXonline™ sells several types of self-contained fire detection and suppression systems designed to protect a 19” rack mount server cabinets. Mounted in the top rack of the protected cabinet, the systems continuously monitor for smoke. When smoke is detected, these systems can either activate an external fire suppression system or utilize an internal system (only on select systems) which discharges a "clean agent" which won't harm sensitive electronic equipment.
Why use a rack mounted system?
- Reduced installation cost - Traditional server room fire protection systems require an engineer to build a custom system based on your particular situation. If you need to expand your IT infrastructure, you may need to have an engineer redo the entire system. Rack mounted systems are completely modular and can easily be installed by existing staff. If your infrastructure expands, there's no need to redo the entire system - just add more units.
- Reduced extinguishing agent requirements - Unlike conventional systems, which flood the entire room with fire suppressant; rack mounted fire protection systems only need to discharge enough for one rack. This dramatically reduces the cost of having the system recharged after a fire.
- Increased proximity to equipment - Rack mounted fire protection systems put the detection where it makes the most sense - as close to your critical equipment as possible. This ensures the quickest possible response in the event of a fire.
Server Rack fire protection by Redetec
Redetec fire protection units utilize either point type or high sensitivity VESDA smoke detection systems. If smoke is detected, the onboard
control systems are able to shut down ventilation fans before releasing fire extinguishing agent into the rack. The extinguishing agent can be one of a variety of products including FM200 and Pyrogen.
In addition to the standard units, Redetec also offers all-in-one rack protection systems that provide rack condition monitoring (temperature, humidity, vibration, etc) and security management in addition to the standard fire protection features. Each input has user-settable upper/lower threshold levels and alarm levels These models include a variety of monitoring interfaces including SNMP, Telnet, and web.

OnGard by FireXOnline
The OnGard unit provides a cost-effective alternative to expensive fire detection and suppression systems designed for server rooms. OnGard is designed to protect a small area, such as a single server cabinet. Simply mount the unit and insert the tube into the area to be protected. In the event of a fire, the tube will rupture and release the fire suppression agent which will extinguish the fire without damaging your sensitive electronic components.
